Six months with UPLAYS Latvia: First results and next steps

Project Interim Summary

Six months have passed since the launch of regular UPLAYS Latvia sessions, and we can now clearly speak of an established community, a stable work rhythm, and the first visible results. The project has moved from the introductory and initial activity phase to systematic work with young people who choose UPLAYS every week as a space for development, support, and growth.

Achievements to date:

During the first six months of the project, 28 sessions have been held, reaching a total of 237 unique participants. On average, 20–30 children and young people attend each session, demonstrating steady interest and consistent participant engagement.

Sessions are held in a consistent format, which allows us to both attract new participants and build trust, continuity, and a sense of belonging to the community.

The Career path covered topics such as self-discovery, understanding the local labor market, CV preparation, communication, teamwork, and soft skills development. Participants gradually transitioned from theory to practical tasks and real-world examples.

Latvian language sessions focused on everyday communication, real-life situations, and integration into the local environment. The format fostered a safe space where participants were not afraid to make mistakes and increasingly began using the language outside of the sessions.

The Sports path combined physical activities, team games, and movement exercises, creating a space for collaboration, emotional balancing, and the formation of healthy habits.

Clear growth dynamics

The project team has observed a clear positive dynamic. Participants have become more active, more open to collaboration, and more confident in discussions and group tasks. There is noticeable progress in their self-confidence, communication skills, and ability to work in a team.

The journey continues

The results achieved are interim milestones. Ahead are more than 20 additional sessions, new topics, activities, and opportunities for the participants. The project continues to evolve, responding to the needs of the youth while maintaining a focus on long-term support and integration.
